You may recall, Last year in the month of September, 9th BRICS summit was organized in Xiamen China.
On the sidelines of this summit, Indian Prime minister Modi and Chinese president Xi met and decided to rebuilt the bilateral ties post doklam standoff.
Since then, As part of Xiamen process, both India and China have been trying to manage their differences, while working with each other on common ground.
You might have noticed, Prime minister Modi has even made a phone call to President Xi Jinping, after he got life time presidential term.
There is no one, who is saying, that India should compromise on its key concerns related to sovereignty, while engaging with China.
While maintaining eternal vigilance, We should continue to find a meaningful way to work with China. For example, Given both India and China are major oil consuming economies. For the combined oil need, they are planning to collaboratively bargain hard with Major oil producing countries to get cheaper crude oil.
In this background, Before next Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in the month of June, In which Prime Minister Modi will participate.
With in S C O framework, Indian foreign minister, defense minister and National security advisor are scheduled to visit China later this month.
While the high level official preparatory work is already going on to make this S C O summit successful.
Significantly, Most powerful bureaucrat in Modi Government has visited China today to hold a bilateral dialogue with China's top diplomat Yang Jiech, who is now Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, and he is also member of powerful politburo of communist party of China.
NSA Ajit Doval has built good rapport with Yang Jiech during special representative level Boundary talks in the past.
While we will never be able to know, what actually discussed in such high level talks. However, in days to come, we will be able to connect the dots and figure out the outcomes of this sudden visit.
But one thing is clear, India can get more by working with China, than working without, or against China.
Hopefully, China also appreciates this reality.
Rather interestingly, Indian Foreign minister will visit China on April 22 and 23, and Mongolia on April 24 and 25.
This travel detail reflect how India playing its role in complex scenario.
If China doesn’t accept Indian interference in its friendship with Pakistan. In the same manner, China should not mind, if India and Mongolia also build strong bond of friendship.
