We all have  heard a lot about SpaceX launch vehicle Falcon 9.
In this video, we will discuss key facts about it.

As you know, Falcon 9 has been planned to be FULLY REUSABLE launch vehicle.  However till now it has successfully reached to the stage of becoming FIRST PARTIALLY reusable launch vehicle.

70 Meter high, Falcon 9 is made of three Main parts.
Payload Second Stage and First Stage.

Till now SpaceX has been successful in reusing multiple times First Stage. Hence, Falcon 9 has  not reached the stage of FULLY REUSABLE launch system.

Falcon 9 launch vehicle has been designed to be manufactured for reliable and safe transport of satellites and Dragon Spacecraft into earth orbit.

Now, Lets discuss each part separately.
Payload
- As a pay load it can carry Dragon Spacecraft, which delivers cargo to International Space Station in lower earth orbit.
- The dragon spacecraft has been designed to carry astronauts  as well.
- As a payload In side composite fairing it can carry one or multiple satellites.
- This composite fairing is large enough to even carry a passenger bus in it.

Second Stage

-  The Second Stage is Powered by a single Merlin vacuum engine, it delivers Falcon 9 payload in desired earth orbit.
- Few seconds, after the first stage separation, it ignites.
- The second stage is made from a high-strength aluminum-lithium alloy.

14 story high, First Stage is the most important part, it has nine Merlin engines.
- It is also made of aluminum lithium tanks.
- After igniting engines the launch vehicle safety system ensures that all engines are working fine before releasing it.
- You will be amazed to know, that unlike airplane, as this launch vehicle goes up, engines generate more thrust power.

Both first stage and second stage, use  liquid oxygen and rocket-grade kerosene as propellant.

After landing of first stage, it is refurbished to get ready for next launch. Due to this reuse, SpaceX is saving huge amount of money, the cost of Refurbished First stage is JUST HALF of the cost of new first stage.

Right now, it takes few months to refurbish first stage, however, in future, it will take, only 24 hours after the landing to get the first stage refurbished and ready for re-launch.

In future, there is plan to recover the composite fairing and reuse them. for one launch, the cost of payload fairing is $6 Million, if it can be reused SpaceX will again end up saving huge amount of money.

In the past, it was considered IMPOSSIBLE to even make a partially reusable rocket. however, thanks to SpaceX team, we have reached this stage.

The day is not very far, when we will have a FULLY REUSABLE Rocket in TRUE Sense.
