Today we will talk about the upcoming FIRST ever Chinese overseas military & Naval base located in strategically important jibouti in Horn of Africa .

Recently China has dispatched troops in two navy warships from Port of Zhanjiang on the journey across the Indian ocean to this first naval base outside Chinese territory.
- As per official Chinese media, this base is not going to be ONLY resupply point but it will support Chinese Navy warships operating in the region in  anti-piracy and humanitarian operations Like evacuation and peace keeping.
- In recent years, China has expanded its military ties across Africa as part of its official foreign policy.
- The strategic importance of this location is very clear from the fact that US, France, Japan and other countries already have permanent bases in Djibouti.

Djibouti's position on the tip of the Horn of Africa offers strategic access to strait which connects the Mediterranean Sea via the Suez Canal and the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
- This is one of the world's most important sea lanes, millions of barrels of oil and petroleum products pass through the strait daily.

- That's why US already have  100 acre military base with 4000 troops in Djibouti. This is the largest  american base in Africa.

- Majority of land in Djibouti is desert and they are always willing to rent the barren land to global powers and get quick money and military support.
- So far as China is concerned, it has already spent 500 Million Dollar to build rail line in Djibouti. Hence it took little friendly negotiation to get this land on lease for this naval base from friendly government there.

As Chinese influence grows in this region, other countries like America, Japan and India are getting worried.

China already have multiple military assets  in Indian Ocean region with the help of Bangladesh,Myammar and Srilanka.
With this naval base, Chinese influence in this region is going to grow manifold.
China is effectively working on its ambitious plan to build vast sea infrastructure aimed at securing its trade routes, ensuring the undisturbed travel of China-bound raw materials and energy vessels, as well as of its transformed products back to Europe through the Gulf of Aden.

Its important this Chinese base follows the international laws to provide freedom of navigation in the international waters for all the nations.
If one country starts behaving like a Big Brother, it will destabilize the power balance and will hamper the economic and commercial growth of entire world.
