In this video, we will discuss about Anti satellite weapons and how they can be used in Space Attack. Given that Indian neighborhood is very hostile, India should have  credible minimum deterrence for space attack

- In 2007 China was able to fire a missile that flew 537 miles above the earth and destroyed one of its weather satellites.

- In 2008, America responded by shooting down it's satellite in danger of falling out of earth's orbit.

- Since then, Russia has also completed multiple anti-satellite missile tests.
- As leading world powers are building anti satellite missiles, the space is soon going to become 1 more fighting zone.
- All leading world powers for example America and India rely on space-based operations for everything including communications, coordination, GPS navigation, and surveillance.
- if there is an enemy, it would like to start war by attacking on your critically important satellites.
- No one would like to hear the news that China or Pakistan has fired missile bringing down major Indian satellite.
- As of now, all big and important Indian satellites are in the orbit with NO Protection at all.
-  Rather than spending money on protecting satellites, there is one work around, it is to avoid big satellites and start launching multiple small satellites.
in such case, there will not be over dependence on few big satellites and if one small satellite is shot down, there will be other small satellites which can support the operation or a new small satellites can be launched with relatively lesser cost and lesser time.
- However, if such Anti satellite missiles are used in any war in future, there is possibility of satellite's broken debris flying around in the earth upper atmosphere.
- These big and small size debris will make earth upper atmosphere unsuitable for all satellites.  Because these debris may damage and destroy other working satellites, it will be real global loss for future space missions.

- Just like Atomic bombs, best way to prevent space attack from enemy is to have deterrence by developing and demonstrating space attack capability.

- In response to Chinese and Russian capabilities, US has already demonstrated that it can also shoot down enemy satellites.
- Though India has all the building blocks necessary to build such space attack weapons,  India is yet to demonstrate any such capability.

Just like atomic bomb, India should also demonstrate to the world that it has credible minimum deterrence for space attack as well. The necessary decision should be taken at the highest level of government.
