Hello Friends, Welcome to

my channel Real Quick Info.

Today we will talk about Malabar Naval Exercise, which is the largest maritime exercise ever conducted in the vast Indian Ocean region.

India, Japan and America participate in this annual  Naval Exercise.
Such naval exercises create stability and understanding between the countries. build personal and institutional links between the their naval forces, and reinforce political economic and commercial and cultural linkages between them.

Originally, It has been a bilateral naval exercise  in between India and America and it was started in 1992. Japan became its permanent member in 2015.
Three exercises were conducted before 1998 , when the Americans suspended exercises after India tested nuclear weapons.
However, the United States renewed military contacts following the September 11 attacks when India joined President George W Bush's campaign against international terrorism.

This exercise includes diverse activities like Fighter combat operations from air craft carriers with the aim to delay disrupt or destroy enemy forces or supplies going  to the battle area, before they inflict any harm against friendly forces.

Aircraft carriers, nuclear-powered submarines, front line warships and submarine hunter planes participate in the drills of this exercise.

China has always been scared of this maritime exercise  due to multiple reasons.
China believes such large scale military exercise has been conducted to target its Sub marine activities in the East and south China Seas.
China reacted sharply to Japan's inclusion in this exercise, because they believed Japan has been included in this exercise as part of India's strategy to contain China in the vast Indian Ocean region. As a matter of fact, India has been concerned about Chinese sub marine docking in Sri Lanka

Japan has also been worried due to Chinese construction activities in South China sea. There is threat to the international freedom of navigation in that area.
Since India doesn't want to further antagonize China, It declined to Australian request to take part in 2017 exercise.

Though this exercise doesn't directly aim at China yet  from long term perspective There is need to improve relationship in between military forces to ensure freedom of navigation and freedom of commerce in seas around the world.
