ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लेने के बाद, प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी 5, से 7 सितंबर के बीच म्यांमार की यात्रा पर जाने वाले हैं.
आप जानते हैं कि श्रीलंका की तरह म्यानमार भी चीन के कर्ज के जाल में फस चुका है.
उदाहरण के लिए, चीन म्यानमार पर दबाव बना रहा है, ताकि उसे बंगाल की खाड़ी में एक महत्वपूर्ण बंदरगाह में 85 प्रतिषत की हिस्सेदारी मिल जाए.
चीन ने कई सारे इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के प्रोजेक्ट के लिए म्यांमार को 7.3 बिलियन डॉलर धन का कर्ज दिया था.
लेकिन म्यांमार की अर्थव्यवस्था अभी भी कमजोर है, इसलिए म्यांमार चीन को कर्ज और ब्याज लौटाने की हालत में नहीं है.
जैसा कि आसानी से लगता है, यह सभी प्रोजेक्ट चीन के व्यापारिक हितों को ध्यान में रखकर बनाए गए थे, इनको बनाते समय म्यांमार के हितों का ध्यान नहीं रखा गया था.
यह जानते हुए कि, म्यांमार कर्ज के जाल में फस सकता है, चीन ने बहुत बड़ी मात्रा में धन म्यामार को कर्ज में दे दिया, और अब वह कर्ज के बदले म्यांमार से प्रोजेक्ट में बहुमत की  हिस्सेदारी मांग रहा है.
इसमें दिमाग लगाने की जरूरत नहीं है, कि यह सभी प्रोजेक्ट म्यांमार में समृद्धि बढ़ाने के लिए नहीं बनाए गए थे.
दूसरी ओर भारत म्यांमार में ऐसे इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर का निर्माण कर रहा है, जो वहां की जनता और वहां की सरकार का होगा, और वह म्यामार की अर्थव्यवस्था की विकास की रफ्तार को तेज करेगा.
अभी हाल ही में म्यांमार के Paletwa river terminal को  Zorinpui से होते हुए भारत के पूर्वोत्तर के मिजोरम राज्य से जोड़ने वाली 109 किलोमीटर लंबी सड़क का ठेका दे दिया गया है.
आपको पता होगा, कि म्यांमार के साथ व्यापार करने वाले सबसे बड़े 5 देशों में भारत शामिल है.
लेकिन अभी भी आपसी व्यापार को बढ़ाने की संभावना बहुत अधिक है. इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के अभाव के कारण भारत और म्यामार के बीच में व्यापार तेजी से नहीं बढ़ पा रहा था.
लेकिन मोदी जी इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर प्रोजेक्ट पर काम में  रफ्तार लाकर, व्यापार में आने वाली इन रुकावटों को दूर कर रहे है.
राष्ट्र निर्माण और लोकतंत्र में भारत का अनुभव भी म्यांमार के साथ शेयर किया जा रहा है, ताकि म्यांमार भी आगे आने वाले लंबे समय में अपना स्वतंत्र होकर विकास कर सके.
इस साल भारत में दालों का बहुत अधिक उत्पादन हुआ है इसलिए भारत ने दालों के आयात  को नियंत्रित करने का प्रयास किया है.
इसके बावजूद भारत ने म्यांमार के साथ अपनी सहमति का सम्मान करते हुए म्यांमार के पक्ष में निर्णय लिया है. इससे म्यांमार के व्यापारियों को 35 मिलियन डॉलर को बचाने में मदद मिली है, क्योंकि उन्होंने पहले ही दालों का भारत को निर्यात कर दिया था.
म्यानमार ने भी भारत के साथ दोस्ती निभाई है. और वह म्यांमार की धरती पर भारत के खिलाफ कोई गतिविधि नहीं होने देता.
आर्थिक और सैन्य संबंधों के अलावा, भारत और म्यामार के बीच सदियों पुरानी सभ्यता और संस्कृति के आधार पर संबंध है, इसलिए भारत और म्यामार की मित्रता स्वाभाविक रूप से और मजबूत होगी.
नरेंद्र मोदी जी ने यूपीए सरकार की पूर्व की ओर देखने वाली नीति को परिवर्तित करके, पूर्व मैं सक्रिय होकर काम करने की नीति बनाई है.
इसलिए हमें आशा है कि आगे आने वाले समय में भारत और म्यांमार के संबंधों में और सुधार होगा.
चीन में होने वाली ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन के बाद म्यांमार में भारत के प्रधानमंत्री का जाना, चीन के लिए यह संदेश होगा कि आगे आने वाले समय में चीन खुला होकर म्यांमार का शोषण नहीं कर सकता.
चीन के पास बहुत अधिक आर्थिक शक्ति है. इसलिए अगर चीन अपने कुछ सालों के हितों को दरकिनार करते हुए अपने लंबे समय के हितों को महत्व दें ,तो वह जिस किसी भी देश में प्रोजेक्ट में सहायता करेगा वह उस देश के हितों का ध्यान रखेगा.
जिस प्रकार श्रीलंका और म्यांमार चीन के कर्ज के जाल में फस गए, उससे पाकिस्तान कुछ सीख सकता है, लेकिन हमें पता है कि पाकिस्तान इन 2 देशों से कुछ नहीं सी खेगा.

After completing the BRICS summit, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Myanmar on 5 to 7 September.
You know, Just like Sri Lanka, Myanmar is now suffering from the consequences of Chinese debt trap policy.
For example China is forcing Myanmar to hand over majority 85% stake in a deep sea strategic port in the Bay of Bengal.
China has funded $7.3 Billion projects in Myanmar. Because of  struggling economy, Myanmar is now facing problem in repaying Chinese loans.



As it now becomes obvious , these projects have been designed to serve Chinese commercial interests disregarding the interests of the host country Myanmar.
Knowing fully well that Economy of Myanmar might fall into debt crisis, China gave away the easy loans few years ago, only to demand majority of stake in those projects now.

It’s no brainer, these projects were NOT conceived with the idea of increasing the prosperity in Myanmar.

On the other hand, India is helping in the creation of public assets, belonging to the people and government of Myanmar. These projects will help local economy grow faster.

Contract has recently been awarded to start work on 109 Kilometer long road connecting Paletwa river terminal to Zorinpui on Myanmar's border with Mizoram state in northeast India.

You know, India is among the top 5 Trading partners of Myanmar.
But there is huge opportunity to grow the bilateral trade. Lack of robust infrastructure was one of the major bottlenecks in growing the trade volume.
But Modi is now focusing on removing these bottlenecks by accelerating the infrastructure projects Implementation.

India is also offering its vast experience in nation building, federalism and democracy to Myanmar so that it can pursue the independent sustainable development in the long term.

Due to this year’s bumper pulse harvest, India has placed restrictions on import of pulses.
Nevertheless India is going to honor the existing pulse import agreement with Myanmar. This friendly Indian decision will help exporters from Myanmar save close to $35 Million  because they have already shipped their material.

Myanmar has been a good friend of India by not allowing its territory to be used for any anti India activities.

Besides economic and security relations, India and Myanmar share centuries old civilizational and cultural relationship. This friendship is naturally bound to grow further.

As Narendra Modi has now replaced UPA era passive, "Look East" policy with proactive, "Act East" policy, we expect to see rapid improvement in the bilateral relationship in between India and Myanmar.

A visit of Myanmar just after BRICS summit, will be a clear signal to China that India will ensure that Myanmar is not exploited by Chinese any more.

China has money power, if it prioritizes long term Chinese interest over its short term interest, it would rather help in building those project which are primarily serving the interests of host nation.
Chinese debt crisis of Sri lanka and Myanmar serves as warning signal for Pakistan. Anyways Pakistan will most likely ignore it.
