Amid Doklam stand off, China has said, if there is any kind of dispute, its in between China and Bhutan.
China is more than ready to talk directly with Bhutan to resolve the dispute.
India being the third party should not interfere, Hence India must withdraw its troops from the contested area.

Lets talk about whole background in brief.

As per the latest Indian Bhutan Friendship treaty, Bhutan agreed to be only guided by advice of the government of India  in regard to its external relations.
India and Bhutan respect each other's independence,sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This mutual respect is the foundation of close friendship and cooperation between Bhutan and India.

After Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950, there is deep distrust in between Bhutan and China.
In last one decade, China has tried to build roads and bridges with in Bhutanese territory a few times.
People of Bhutan are afraid that China might use these roads to further Chinese claims along the China Bhutan border.

Interestingly,  There is no formal diplomatic relationship in between Bhutan and China.

China obviously dislikes India Bhutan friendship and wants to bring Bhutan under its sphere of influence.
As per historical silk road, China may want to get access to Bay of Bengal via Bhutan and Bangladesh in the long term. This could be one of Chinese motivations behind current standoff.

Just like China Pakistan economic corridor, This will be another project to encircle India in the region.

The area where china was trying to do road construction, that area is claimed by Bhutan as its own.

India doesn't have any claim on Doklam, it just supports Bhutan's claim and cannot allow China to unilaterally change the status quo against the will of Bhutan.

Under Chinese threats, if India withdraws its troops and allows China to complete the road construction, it will amount to deceiving the close friend in the hour of need.
If India backs off, Bhutan will have no option but to survive on china's mercy and start doing whatever China orders.

But China needs to look at the past as well, Whenever China tried to break India Bhutan friendship bond, It actually grew stronger.

Even the special defense and foreign affair relationship in between Bhutan and India got established in 1949 because Chinese actions in Tibet made Bhutan aware of China's tendency to encroach.

Over last seven decades, whenever there were any kind of Chinese threats on Bhutan, India came forward with assisting hand.
As as result, India Bhutan friendship has grown stronger over the years.

This time again, China has chosen the battle carefully.

You might have noticed, China has soft approach towards Bhutan but its issuing daily war threats to India

This is age old way of breaking the friendship. Any one can see through this.

Nevertheless China must learn something from past, India will never back down from its friendship based commitment to Bhutan.

The more China will try to break it, the stronger  India Bhutan Friendship will be.
