Now Lets discuss about today's topic.

One of the main reasons for the poverty in Afghanistan is that its a land locked country fully dependent on Pakistan's Karachi port to export goods.

It can export limited amount of goods to India via Pakistan's  land route but India is not allowed to export any goods to Afghanistan by this route.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this year in June, direct air corridor is opened in between Afghanistan and India.
This air route allows goods transport in between these two friendly countries.

This air corridor bypasses Pakistan's bottleneck in growing bilateral trade in between India and Afghanistan.

You know, India is not sending its troops to Afghanistan, but India may offer this air corridor for America to transport non lethal goods and supplies to Afghanistan.

If America accepts this, India will be able to reduce the American over dependence on Pakistan based land routes. Thus India will limit Pakistan's bargaining power.


You know, India is working to opening up a land route in between Cha bahar Port and Afghanistan. America can reconcile to the fact that this trade corridor passes through Iran and support this initiative.
Once this corridor opens up, Afghanistan will no longer be dependent on Karachi and it can export more goods to world and grow faster.

Besides Afghanistan, America is the one country which will benefit most if growth, prosperity returns to Afghanistan. These thing will consolidate power of elected government and help in bringing peace in the volatile country.

Everyone knows, Afghanistan is largest producer of Opium in the world.
85% area under Opium cultivation is still under Taliban Control. Now you know, how Taliban is earning money.
As long as source of money is not blocked, Taliban will remain powerful and America will keep fighting a war without any hope to win it.

Till now, America has not acted against Opium Trade, because there is obvious fear, if Opium cultivation reduces, Afghan farmers will join Taliban in large number.

But this strategy has not worked, Until the effective monitory and logistical blockade is ensured, its very difficult to defeat enemy . You cannot even bring them to dialogue table.

Unfortunately, America has not learnt lesson here. If a strategy did not work for last 17 years, its doubtful that it will work in future.

America has expertise in counter-narcotics program , they can work to reduce narcotics trade thus weakening financial power of Taliban.

India is already involved in community development projects. More irrigation projects should be taken up and Farmers of Afghanistan should be incentivized  to move away from Opium production to Normal Agricultural products.

This approach may take time, but it will bring success for America in Afghanistan.

With current approach, America can continue to fight war for next 17 years as well.

So far as India is concerned, while avoiding direct military intervention, India should look positively at all possible ways to help establishing peace in Afghanistan.
