Now Lets discuss about today's topic.

In India we are very much concerned by China Pakistan Economic Corridor for very obvious reasons.

This year India has boycotted  the opening ceremony of Chinese Belt and Road Initiative to mark its protest against Chinese infrastructure build up activities in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

As a matter of fact, Indian protests have been limited to only speeches.

Hence the question comes, if this project really harms us, why India is not proactively doing any thing on the ground to create obstacles in the path of this project ?

before finding answer to this question, Lets go back in the history.

Way back in 2001, Pakistan successfully made a fool out of America by convincing them that Pakistan would help them in fighting and winning the Afghanistan war.

In this context, International Monitory Fund issued $12 Billion debt relief package to Pakistan, 
and America has provided consistent monitory and military support to Pakistan. The result was Pakistan could happily survive in last 16 years.

Since America was not able to distinguish the difference in between Friend and Enemy, 16 years have elapsed, America is yet to win the war.

Good thing is, now America appears to realize its mistake. Hopefully, Pakistan will no longer have the most dependable American support.

Recently, Pakistan's Prime Minister also conceded that American source is drying up, and they will have to go to other costlier sources.

It would be surprising to see, besides China and Russia, which other country is going to support Pakistan.

As far as Russia and China are concerned, they just need to consider this,Pakistan back stabbed America, they can take chance and get back stab as well at their own risk.

Anyways, Since the american source is no longer an option. lets return to China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

It was initially valued at $46 Billion, but now the cost has gone up to $62 Billion.  This is increase in cost by 34 % in last two years.
Besides these cost overruns, The projects of this corridor are already delayed.

If this project is of so much importance for both China and Pakistan, why is it getting costlier and delayed. The answer is simple, Corruption from both Chinese and Pakistani sides.

There is no reason to hope that Corruption will go down in upcoming years.

Hence, its increasingly possible, with delay, the cost of this project will go up further and Pakistan will have serious difficulty in servicing the Chinese loans in upcoming decades.

We all have seen in Sri Lanka, How much China is ruthless when it comes to recovering the loans. Hence, the Debt trap is ready to welcome Pakistan.

when ever it happens, Unfortunately, this time unlike 2001, Pakistan will not get help  from America or international monitory fund, which is already not very friendly to friends of China.

Therefore, its likely, this project will not be fully functional and Pakistan will fall into Chinese debt trap without any American help.

Now, you tell, if a nation is already on the path of self destruction, should we waste effort to accelerate its journey and get the blame also?

Hence, we Indian should just watch the things unfolding in Pakistan. The worst thing we can do is to worry about China Pakistan Economic Corridor.  Rather Let Pakistanis worry about it.
