Now Lets discuss about today's topic.

We all know, As per instrument of Accession, the entire princely state of Jammu and Kashmir is integral part of India.

However when we discuss about Kashmir dispute, The part of Jammu and Kashmir Princely state, which is right now under the control of Pakistan is referred to as Pakistan Occupied Kashmir P O K.

But the territory which is under the control of Pakistan, can be broadly divided into two  regions, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir P O K which is also referred as Azaad Kashmir. and Pakistan Occupied Gilgit Baltistan (P O G B).

Area wise,  PoGB is seven times bigger than P O K. It shares border with China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.  It has huge reserves of gold and uranium. This is the very region which provides majority of water to Indus river, the life line of Pakistan.

Yes, This is the region, from where China Pakistan Economic Corridor passes through.

Friends, There is big difference in between  P O K and P O G B.  Therefore when we say, P O K is part of India, we neglect Indian Claim on P O G B.

Hence, we need to make distinction in between P O K and P O G B.

After living under the Pakistan's occupation forces, People of Gilgit and Baltistan have begun to realize the mistake committed by their elders in November 1947 by fighting against the Maharaja forces.

At that time, the people of this area were predominantly Shia Muslims, However over the years the ethnic composition has been changed as Sunni Kashmiri and other Pakistanis have settled in this area leading to discontent.

Due to conspiracy of Pakistan against the indigenous people, they are deprived of basic rights like right to vote, right to free speech, and right to  justice.

Of late, people in this region are getting worried about the presence of Chinese force and their massive infrastructure building activities while  ignoring the demands and rights of its inhabitants. There is fear, due to falling into Chinese debt trap, this entire region may remain effectively in Chinese control forever.


After long negligence and ignorance, Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi , India started highlighting the issues faced by people of Gilgit and Baltistan.

Recently we have not seen active diplomatic and political support from Indian side.

People of P O G B need support and India should have clear policy on how it wants to help them.
To begin with, we Indians must start recognizing that PoGB and P o k are two different regions. Since the people of both regions have begun to realize, there is no hope of bright future as long as they are occupied by Pakistan.

This is why, There is possibility of people of Gilgit Baltistan preferring to join India voluntarily.
