Now Lets discuss about today's topic.
We all know, Pakistan has fastest growing nuclear arsenal in the world. They have developed full spectrum of nuclear weapons right from big strategic to smaller tactical nuclear weapons.

Recently, we all have heard , Pakistan's threat to use tactical nuclear weapons against Indian cold start doctrine.

Please note, Pakistan has developed Nasar missile with ranges up to 60 kilometer to launch these smaller nuclear strike on advancing Indian forces in their territory.

You know, India has widely publicized No First use policy for Nuclear weapons. As per this policy,There will be massive retaliation in much greater force in the event of first nuclear attack from enemy.

But if there is threat of tactical nuclear attack, India may launch preemptive strike on Nasar Batteries, which are launch vehicle for tactical nuclear warheads.

However, with this option, there is threat of Pakistan launching full scale nuclear attack on India. Hence, using this option will result in exposing India towards bigger nuclear attack risk.

Hence, the question is, what should be the Indian strategy to counter nuclear threats from Pakistan?

The answer to this question has been provided by MIT professor Vipin Narang.

As per him, there is increasing evidence that India will not allow Pakistan to Go first.

India has been tracking Pakistan's Nuclear stockpiles. Indian defense forces may have idea about which all places these nuclear warheads are stored and where are the launch pads.

In a Conflict, if there is threat of Imminent nuclear attack from Pakistan, India should launch comprehensive counter force strike, that attempts to completely disarm Pakistan of its nuclear weapons so that India does not have to engage in iterative tit-for-tat exchanges and expose its own cities to nuclear destruction.

Such preemptive surprise nuclear attack strategy is called ‘Splendid Nuclear Strike’, which will left Pakistan unable to continue the war itself.

Please be aware, no country in the world has demonstrated such capability till now. But this doesn't mean, No one has such capability. Basically, the situation to demonstrate such capability has itself not come till now.

In simple words, there is no point of destroying Pakistan after getting Mumbai city completely destroyed. The idea is to change the nuclear game with Pakistan.

We all have seen, by conducting surgical strikes last year, India has successfully confirmed that India can do such strikes at will, and Pakistan would not resort to Nuclear attack. You can recall, despite having the capability to conduct surgical strike, India could not do that for decades because we have succumbed to Pakistan nuclear threats.

It just took a leader like Modi to expose Pakistan in front of whole world.

Similarly, India must develop capability to conduct Splendid Nuclear Strike, which of course cannot be developed over night.
In fact, we like to believe, Indian forces are already well prepared with such option.

For Splendid Nuclear Strike, Surprise is the key. But there is no harm in acknowledging that India does have such capability.
After all, having a capability and using it, are too different things.
