Hello Friends, I welcome you with a new video on my channel Real Quick Info.
We hope, you will like this video. Please Let us share Real Quick Analysis with you in future as well, so please subscribe our channel Real Quick Info. Please don't forget to click on Bell icon as well to get notification, as soon as we upload interesting new video.
Now Lets discuss about today's topic.
Yesterday, we conducted a poll on our channel and overwhelming majority were full of confidence that India would win. You know, Confidence of Winning is more important than winning itself.
Now, you see for the very first time, in the history of both United Nations, and International court of Justice, there will not be 5 judges representing 5 Veto wielding permanent members of security council.
Its matter of joy for all of us, that Indian diplomatic efforts have succeeded.
You know, it has been hard fought battle, even after getting the majority votes in General Assembly with increasing vote share in 11 consecutive rounds. We were not sure of winning due to lack of majority in Security council.
World was facing the truth, how things have remarkably changed.
The late realization of which direction the wind is blowing has forced Mighty British to withdraw their candidate from the election.
Afterwards, 12th round of formal voting happened, Indian candidate got 183 out of 193 votes in the General Assembly and secured all the 15 votes in the Security Council. Thus securing him seat in international court of justice.
Now, this win is very important, and it strongly sets the precedent that majority voice of General Assembly will carry more weight than the majority voice of security council.
Moreover, Security council represents General Assembly, its not other way round. Hence, Neither India won Nor Britain lost the election, its the true spirit of United Nations, which has won today.
Moreover, British need not lose heart on this. After three years again 5 seats will come up for election. British Judge CHRISTOPHER GREENWOOD is 62 years old right now.
We wish him good luck to win next time.
We all know, 70 years old Justice Bhandari is more experienced and He deserves to win this time.
Interestingly , security council permanent members were scared of this scenario. They were thinking, if it happens with Britain today, the same scenario they may have to face tomorrow.
This argument reflects their insecurities and deep sense of entitlement.
Any election is fought and won on case to case basis.
They can always come up with good candidate and put their best diplomatic efforts to rally support in United Nations to make their candidate win.
Anyways, India has successfully broken so called practice, that International court of justice should have 5 Judges from security council permanent members.
The credit of this historical diplomatic win should be given to very talented Indian diplomats deployed on the ground zero in United Nations .
Till yesterday, While being here, Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj was calling her counterparts to strongly push Indian case forward. Yes, she was leading the charge.
Please note, this is Narendra Modi, Politician who simply loves to fight the election. Be it a non significant election for a Gujrat Rajya Sabha seat, or election for the judge of International court of Justice. Regardless victory or defeat, he is going to fight it like his last Election. You like it or not, He earns credit for this win.
As per your views, how this win will impact the speed of security council reform?
Please let us know your views in comment section below.
