Now Lets discuss about today's topic.
In 2013, Israel launched bi annual multi lateral Air force Drill, and named it 'Blue Flag', which provides a platform for sharing of knowledge, combat experience and in improving operational capability of the participating nations.
In the form of Blue flag 2017, Israel is hosting biggest ever joint military exercise in its history,
This exercise is being conducted at Air Force Base in Israel from Second and 16 November 17.
Besides Israeli Air Force, Air forces from countries like the US, France, Germany, Italy, Greece and Poland will be participating in this.
As part of the exercise, foreign crews will practice handling the threat of advanced surface-to-air antiaircraft missiles, with the Israel Air Force’s so-called Red Squadron playing the role of the enemy. Yes, this drill is going to be very interesting.
Very significantly, 4 months after the first ever Israeli visit of any Indian Prime minister, Indian air force contingent is going to participate in Blue Flag 2017 Air Drill. This is first time, Indian air force will operate with Israeli air force in a multilateral exercise setting.
From Indian side,special operations'Super Hercules' aircraft and 45 member contingent including Garud commandos are going to take part in this mega air drill.
Blue Flag Exercise gives opportunity to the Indian Air force to share and learn best practices with some of the best professionals from other Air Forces.
In this war game, Foreign forces have the opportunity to show case their new weapons and equipment to Indian Air force.
During this drill, Indian Air force can confirm if these capabilities may fill any gap in Indian defense preparedness.
In fact this is the way to identify possible areas of collaboration in between India and participating nations.
This elevated level of military drill emphatically underlines the unique position of friendship with Israel in Indian foreign policy.
While India and Israel relationship is growing stronger, there is necessity to carefully play the balancing act. For example, We all know, on one hand Israel considers Iran as its main threat. on the other hand historically Russia did not have friendly relationship with Israel.
To give you flavor of recent events, In October this year, Israel bombed a Syrian Anti Aircraft battery, after it fired at Israeli jet. Iran has grand plans to build its own air base and sea port in Syria. This iranian plan is not at all acceptable to Israel. after all Israel can not let Syria become a base for attacks on itself
Russian and Iranian support to Syrian Assad regime is well known. Though President Putin has been trying hard to improve relationship with Israel, yet Syria remains major ground for their conflicting interests.
We still find, Iran and Russia are mature enough to understand Blue Flag like games are not adversarial in nature. In reality, they provide learning platform .
Few people say, India is increasingly going closer to Israel. As far as we think, there is no harm in it. Israel is already one of the top defense equipment suppliers for India. after the Israel visit of PM Modi, there is no need to hesitate in publicly displaying the friendship bond with Israel.
