Now Lets discuss about today's topic.
We all have been obsessed with massive $269 Billion Chinese investment in its mega Belt and Road initiative.
Behind this, we have almost neglected Japanese Partnership for Quality Infrastructure initiative.
In the year 2015, This $110 Billion large Japanese initiative was announced to finance infrastructural initiative in Asia.
after One year, Prime Minister Abe increased the size of available financing to $200 Billion, and came up with "Expanded Partnership for Quality Infrastructure" to support projects across the world on the basis of win-win relationship.
Yes, Under the "Partnership for Quality Infrastructure" initiative only, Japan has provided funds for Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Railway Project.
Interestingly, Japan covers Cha bahar port under this initiative as well.
In last two years, during bilateral discussions, Japan has clearly shown its willingness to work with India on Cha bahar port development project.
There was even proposal to build Industrial complex in Cha bahar. But till now, nothing concrete has been finalized.
Very significantly, Japanese Prime Minister has accepted the invitation to visit Iran at an appropriate time.
This is going to be first Iran visit of any Japanese prime minister after a gap of 40 years.
As far as we think, its very important for Japan and Iran to have engagement at the highest level of the government.
So far as India is concerned, we should facilitate this in whatever way we can. We should in fact work in parallel on finding ways for possible collaboration.
Importantly, In this whole game, the major spoiler could be America.
It will be huge blunder on American side, if they now create problem in Japan India Iran Afghanistan multilateral collaboration.
We can safely say, 17 years back had America chosen Cha bahar port in place of Karachi port , the result of Afghanistan war would have been very different today.
In last 70 years, the biggest mistake, America has committed was to choose a wrong friend in the form of Pakistan.
If you see carefully, regardless what president Trump says in public, the American policy towards Pakistan has not changed a bit, even today.
Earlier, American president used to talk soft but American generals and diplomats used to talk in hard terms with Pakistan. Now only one thing has Changed, the roles have been reversed.
We can only hope, America will not waste its another one decade. At least, it should not create road blocks if Japan along with India actively engage more with Iran.
