Now Lets discuss about today's topic.
You know, China is investing huge $62 Billion in China Pakistan Economic Corridor project, which is the flag ship project of its mega Belt and Road Initiative.
For last three weeks, hardliner religious protesters have been blocking the Islamabad Expressway and Murree Road that connect Islamabad with its only airport and the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
When Police and Paramilitary forces launched the operation to clear the blockade of capital.
Demonstrations and road blocs paralyzed life across Pakistan.
When civilian government asked Military to lead the operation, Military asked to find the solution peacefully.
Perhaps, it happens only in Pakistan. Where All powerful military can decline the request of civilian government.
There are various reasons for what is happening in Pakistan today. Lets not go into them.
As neighboring country, we need to watch the events unfolding.
But China perhaps do better to revisit the very idea of China Pakistan Economic corridor.
They have put so much money in Gwadar port. Are they ready to face the blockade of Gwadar port for even one week?
please remind yourself, One of the primary reason China has invested so much in China Pakistan Economic corridor is to eliminate the threat of blockade at Malacca Strait. Now, there is distinct possibility, Gwadar Port Blockade may also happen. If it does, China will keep on asking for help, But Different power centers in Pakistan will start playing Pass the Buck game.
Still, we do not expect China to look seriously whats going on in Pakistan.
Anyways, it should listen how politician of Pakistan are speaking in the upper house of Parliament.
Now lets listen,
"China has arrived in Gwadar and almost all the business conducted in Pakistan is being undertaken by China,"
This is not an Indian, who is saying so. Its Pakistani politician Kulsoom Parveen, who is making such observations.
She goes even further,
"What progress has Gwadar seen under China Pakistan Economic corridor, so far? The people of Balochistan have not gained anything from the project."
"Maybe the people of Balochistan will only be given jobs to fix punctured tires,"
If such social and economic exclusion of local people do happen, China should be ready for the challenges it will face.
In such case, it would be foolish on the part of China and Pakistan to think that, India or America or anybody else on this earth will waste their time, efforts and money in sabotaging China Pakistan Economic corridor.
