नंबर 1 है, चीन के कर्ज की कठिन शर्तों को ध्यान में रखते हुए, पाकिस्तान ने 14 बिलियन डॉलर के पाकिस्तान अधिकृत कश्मीर में बांध बनाने के प्रोजेक्ट को निरस्त कर दिया.
नंबर दो, नेपाल ने 2.5 बिलियन डॉलर्स का जल विद्युत बांध बनाने का चीन को दिया हुआ कॉन्ट्रैक्ट कैंसिल कर दिया.
नंबर 3, म्यानमार ने घोषणा की, उसे चीन के द्वारा बनाए जा रहे बड़े बांध में 3.6 बिलियन डॉलर्स के निवेश की जरूरत नहीं है.
इस प्रकार से 20 बिलियन डॉलर्स कीमत के इन 3 प्रोजेक्ट के निरस्त होने से, चीन को तगड़ा झटका लगा है.
नंबर चौथा है, पाकिस्तान ने अपने परम मित्र के प्रस्ताव को अस्वीकार कर दिया, जिसके अंतर्गत ग्वादर Free trade zone में चीन अपनी मुद्रा का प्रयोग करने की स्वीकृति मांग रहा था.
ऐसा लगता है, कि श्री लंका और मालदीव में जो हुआ, उसने इन तीनो देशो को जागने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया है. आप जानते हैं, की इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के प्रोजेक्ट्स, जैसे रेलवे का निर्माण करना, में बड़े पैमाने पर लंबे समय के लिए, कम ब्याज दर पर कर्ज लेने की जरूरत होती है. आपको याद होगा, भारत की पहली बुलेट ट्रेन के लिए, हमें जापान की ओर से बहुत अच्छी शर्तों पर Soft Loan मिला है. लेकिन चीन अपने पक्के मित्र पाकिस्तान को अच्छी शर्तों पर सॉफ्ट लोन देने के लिए तैयार नहीं है, इस प्रकार चीन के पाकिस्तान में रेलवे निर्माण के 8 बिलियन डॉलर के प्रोजेक्ट का भविष्य अनिश्चित हो गया है. आपको ध्यान हो, पाकिस्तान रेलवे का यह प्रोजेक्ट China Pakistan Economic corridor project का हिस्सा है. इसलिए तैयार रहिए, कि इस संदर्भ में और सूचना जल्दी ही हमारे सामने आएगी.
यह देखने में अच्छा लगता है, कि हमारे पड़ोसी देश दूसरों की गलतियों से सीख रहे हैं, और कम से कम हाल फिलाल में अपनी राह सुधारने की कोशिश कर रहे है. इसके अलावा, चीन की तरफ से ऐसा पुनर्विचार हो रहा है, कि आगे ज्यादा ध्यान यूरोप और अफ्रीका के विशाल बाजार पर देना होगा, ताकि धन के निवेश पर अधिक लाभ कमाया जा सके. लेकिन चीन के लिए अच्छा होगा, अगर वह यह ध्यान रखे, की अफ्रीका और यूरोप के देशों ने भी देख लिया है, कि चीन से सहायता लेने के चक्कर में पड़ने का अंतिम परिणाम क्या होता है.
चीन ने बहुत से इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के सफेद हाथियों का निर्माण किया है. और उसने अपनी यही रणनीति फैलाकर, उसे belt and road initiative का नाम दे दिया. परिणाम यह हुआ है, कि चीन को अगले 99 वर्षों के लिए दुनिया के सबसे बड़े swimming pool का अधिकार मिल गया है. दोस्तों, हम यहां पर श्रीलंका के हंबनटोटा बंदरगाह की बात कर रहे है.
हमारे लिए यह सोचना नासमझी होगी, कि हमारे चीन के मित्र सबके सामने हाल ही में खाए हुए इन झटकों को स्वीकार करेंगे.
किसी भी प्रोजेक्ट की संभावना को निर्धारित करने की तरीके, और लंबे समय तक टिकाऊ निवेश करने के सिद्धांत भी सबको पता है, लेकिन इन सब को दरकिनार करते हुए, चीन ने अपनी जरूरत से ज्यादा क्षमता का प्रयोग, कृत्रिम मांग को पूरा करने में प्रयोग करने की आदत डाल ली है. दुर्भाग्यवश, बेल्ट एंड रोड इनिशिएटिव को चीन के संविधान में डालने से, अर्थतंत्र के मूलभूत सिद्धांत नहीं बदलते हैं. वास्तव में, भारत तो अपने पड़ोसी देशों से एकमात्र अपेक्षा रखता है, की वह चीन के साथ मेलजोल बढ़ाते समय अपने दूरगामी हितों का ध्यान रखें. भारत में कोई भी यह आशा नहीं करता है, कि हमारे पड़ोसी देश चीन के साथ संबंध बनाते समय, भारत के हितों का ख्याल रखें.

Number three - Myanmar declared, it is no more interested in big $3.6 Billion Chinese backed hydroelectric project.
Hence, The cancellation of three projects with total worth of around $20 Billion serves a serious jolts to Chinese ambitions.
Number four - Pakistan turned down its all weather friend's demand to allow the use of Chinese currency in the Gwadar Free trade zone.
its appears, the examples of Sri Lanka and Maldives have served a wake up call to authorities in these three countries.
You know, Infrastructure project like Railways require long term financing on lower interest rates. You can recall, how good deal we have got from Japan for first Indian bullet train project.
But China is no longer interested in offering favorable soft loans to its iron clad friend Pakistan. in this way, The fate of is $8 Billion Pakistan Railways project becomes uncertain. Please note, this railway project is also part of China Pakistan Economic corridor project.
So please expect, some big news on this railway project anytime soon.
But its heartening to see, these neighboring countries are learning from the mistakes of others and trying to correct their path at least for now.
Moreover, on Chinese side as well, there is rethink going on to focus more on European and African market in the hope for better return on investment. By the way, China would do better to realize that African and European countries have also clearly seen the eventual results of falling in to Chinese helping hands.
China has built many infrastructural white elephants and expanded the same strategy in the form of belt and road initiative.
The result is, They have got 99 years lease for the biggest swimming pool in the world.

It would be naive for us to expect, our Chinese friends to publicly accept these setbacks.
Disregarding the established procedures to evaluate the viability of any project and sustainable financial principals, china has got this habit of creating artificial demand for its excess capacity.
Unfortunately ,China putting Belt and Road initiative in Constitution doesn't change the fundamental laws of economics.
As a matter of fact, only one thing India wants from its neighbors, is to consider their long term interest, while engaging with China.
No one in India expects, these neighboring countries to take decisions keeping in view Indian interests.
This year, Silk Road Summit has been organized, it would be interesting to see if next summit will be organized in 2019 or not.
