In last two years of new Taiwanese government, One of the biggest blows came in the month of June this year, when Panama severed formal diplomatic relationship with Taiwan.
Following the One China policy, Panama has established a diplomatic relationship with People's Republic of China and broken the 100 year old diplomatic relationship with Republic of China or Taiwan.
Basically, China has successfully lured Panama to switch allegiance to China in order to Punish Taiwan.
Slowly, China will continue to grab Taiwanese allies whenever it wants to warn Taiwanese leaders.
Due to its informal relationship, America will be able to speak in United Nations on behalf of Taiwan.
While Taiwanese government, pledges to keep the peace with China without declaring formal independence, or getting too close to Beijing.
On the other hand, China remains committed to unify Taiwan with the main land.
In this background, In this month, India and Taiwan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote mutual industrial cooperation .
Very significantly, As per official version released by Taiwan, this memorandum has been signed in between two nations.
and as per English version , this agreement has been signed in between two countries.
Hence, Similar to America, India is also trying to adop flexible one china policy.
Returning favor to China, we will work in such a calibrated manner to avoid crossing the threshold to let China cry for the violation of one china policy.
But with in realm of practical diplomacy, we will continue to have informal diplomatic relationship and grow formal trade and economic relationship with Taiwan.
Remarkably, in last 2 years, This agreement is the fifth such bilateral agreement in between India and Taiwan.
No doubt, India and Taiwan are coming closer.
This year in between January and September, the bilateral trade in between India and Taiwan reached $4.7 Billion with a increase of 40% compared to the same period last year.
As expected Chinese news paper Global Times started threatening India for the consequences of going closer to Taiwan.
They are so intelligent to identify that India is using Taiwan as bargaining chip, while conveniently forgetting what China is doing in the Indian neighborhood.
India and Taiwan relationship is mutually beneficial relationship of democracies. Using Chinese dialogue, our bilateral relationship is not against any third country, it is for peace and prosperity in the region. Hopefully, China will understand one day the benefits of India and Taiwan relationship.
Friends, we need not worry about Chinese retaliation for stronger India and Taiwan ties. Moreover, What ever China is doing against India, It can not do worse than that.
Moreover, China understands the fact, India is not Panama.
