Afghanistan war is the longest and one of the costliest military operations in American history.
Thanks to Pakistan playing double game of astonishing magnitude, Taliban and Islamic state still control many parts in Afghanistan.
Obama as president is remembered for killing Bin Laden in the year 2011 during his first term. In America, its widely believed that Donald Trump wants to be remembered as the one who really won Afghan war in his first term.
Trump administration is more of Military administration. Frankly, there are doubts about the ability of President trump, but there is absolutely no doubt about the capabilities of these retired generals providing him wise advise.
That's where first time, America has clearly articulated that terrorist safe heavens in Pakistan are no longer acceptable for them.
Going one step ahead, now Trump Administration is deliberating with Pakistan on launching for the very first time major military offensive against Taliban from both sides of the Afghan border.
Please note, earlier all offensive were launched only from one side of the border. Taliban and Pakistan took full advantage of this policy by retreating towards the other side of the border and relaunch the attack later on.
In fact, that's one of the reasons why terrorist safe heavens are still thriving in Pakistan.
In a bid to root out Taliban from Pakistan, Pakistani Army launched an operation in North Waziristan in 2014.
This operation failed to deliver long lasting result, because Pakistan killed few terrorists as sacrificial lambs while providing safer heavens to others.
But this time around, massive offensive from two sides could deliver the result only if Pakistan plays its part honestly.
As it is said, Honesty is a very expensive gift, don't expect it from Cheap people.
However, Trump administration is expecting Honesty from Pakistan.
No wonder, Pakistan has already raised doubts about the success in this initiative. Rather than focusing on winning the war, they seem to be more concerned about the scenario, like the past, if Taliban out lives this offensive too.
Since Trump administration is not buying Pakistan's argument, they may go ahead with this new strategy.
Doubters don't win, frankly America cannot win the Afghan war having alliance with Pakistan.
Nevertheless There is no harm in trying new approach in Afghan war. Being utmost optimist, this time around, the strategy will be executed flawlessly and deliver the Afghan win coveted by three American presidents.
