Hello Friends, welcome to Real Quick Info channel. Lets discuss about today's topic.
We all are aware of recent aggressive retaliation mounted by Indian army along the line of control against Pakistan's unprovoked ceasefire violation.
Now please consider this, while Pakistan can employ only small caliber fire arm in order to provide cover to infiltrating militants, but Indian army is retaliating using high caliber fire arms of choice to inflict pain effectively .
Pakistan preferably wants to have some sort of new rules of engagement, so that India can be persuaded to use only lower caliber weapons in retaliation.
As per changed strategy of Indian armed forces, now the crystal clear aim is to make Pakistani forces pay the cost of cease fire violations.
In persuasion of this goal, There is no scope for caliber reduction unless cease fire violation and terrorist infiltration keeps going on.
More than anything, Pakistan seems to buy some time here, and considering a proposal to offer India face to face meetings of Director General of military operations of the two countries, after a gap of three years.
Given that telephonic conversation in between Director General of military operations of two countries keeps happening on request basis. There is little hope, face to face meeting can deliver the result when telephonic meetings failed to deliver anything.
As long as Pakistan continues cease fire violation, there is no incentive for India to reduce its retaliatory options to appease irresponsible neighbor.
Moreover, retaliatory action should always have a surprise element. There is no point of retaliation when Pakistan knows its intensity.
Pakistan wants caliber reduction, India is rather interested in resumption of cease fire across the line of control.
Interestingly In the recent past also, Pakistan has deliberated upon resuming face to face meeting in between Director General of military operations, but could not make an offer, because India could perceive it, as sign of Pakistani weakness.
It simply reflects lack of confidence on Pakistan's side. Rather pleasing thing is, Gone are the days, when India used to request Pakistan for such face to face meeting. Thanks to free hand given to Indian army, Pakistan has been put in the state of indecision.
As far as we understand, its unlikely that weak Pakistan will dare to make such proposal.
Even if Pakistan makes such proposal in near future, India should not resume face to face meeting in between director generals of military operations, unless the issue of establishing the sanctity of cease fire violation is not on the table.
There is absolutely no point in discussing the caliber reduction as confidence building measure, when India cannot even afford to trust Pakistan.
As per your views, should India be open for caliber reduction in the talks of director generals of military operations of India and Pakistan?
