Now the question comes, why Pakistan is not changing its policy even a bit.

As per former Vice President in Obama administration, America considers Pakistan fifty times more important than Afghanistan.
In order to compete with Russia and China for supremacy in this region, America needs to win conclusively Afghanistan war.
But If American friendship bond with Pakistan breaks, America will not only conclusively get defeated in Afghanistan, but also it will lose whatever influence it has got in the region.
Back in the early years after Independence, America preferred alliance with India. Only when India replied in negative, America turned to Pakistan. As a matter of reality, India can never become a tool to be used in the rivalry among global powers.
Nobody knows this better than Pakistani Generals. That's why they have been remarkably successful in exploiting America for its over dependence.
Making matter worse for America, Pakistan is going closer to Russia.
Moving ahead of defense relationship, now Russia and Pakistan have been actively collaborating in Energy sector as well.
As Pakistan is aiming to restructure its energy sector, it wants to leverage Russian expertise in this area.
Recently, Russian oil and gas consortium arrived In Pakistan with the intention of investing in Pakistan's energy sector.
America has been using increased Indian role in Afghanistan as a threat to Pakistan, but Generals in Pakistan are outsmarting America by issuing bigger threat in the form of increased role of Russia and China in Pakistan.
Moreover, Pakistan was very successful in convincing American policy makers that, its American responsibility to stabilize Pakistan.
Else Pakistani nuclear arsenal will land in the hands of terrorists. American policy has always been designed to prevent this nightmare scenario.
Hence, America is deeply caught in the complex trap here. No matter what they say, they cannot unfriend Pakistan. Unfortunately, This path will lead to sure defeat in Afghanistan war, in the form of american troops withdrawal before conclusive win.
In Afghanistan, America took revenge from Russia for its loss of face in Vietnam war by disintegrating soviet union.
Now in Afghanistan, Russia is gladly building friendship with Pakistan to take revenge from America.
Whether we like it or not, This is the inherent advantage of being Pakistan.
In this background, We Indians should lower our expectations, Peace is not going to return to Afghanistan for the foreseeable future.
