By now, we all know Pakistan has been placed on Terror Financing Watch list. But the confusion is prevailing because Pakistan's name has not been mentioned in the watch list. We are also not sure about, what is the difference in between Grey list and Black list.
Please note, In order to take action against money laundering and Terror Financing, there are two types of lists prepared by Financial Action Task Force, first, Grey list and second, Black list.
Being placed on terror financing watch list means Pakistan has been technically placed on review process after which Pakistan will be placed in one of these two lists. Please note, terror financial watch list is not published.
If Pakistan and Financial Action Task force finalize an action plan, and its approved in June meeting. Pakistan will appear on the new grey list.
As you understand, Action plan has neither been prepared nor approved, hence Pakistan name is not present in the grey list published after last meeting.
If the action plan is not finalized, or if it has not been approved, Pakistan will land in the black list.
Hence, We can conclude, Pakistan is on watch list, it will be placed officially either on Grey List, or on Black List in next meeting of this organization.
If Pakistan lands on grey list, it will have to take actions against terrorist and their organization.
If Pakistan lands on Black list, it will have to face serious economic restriction.
Either way, its major win for India.
Many of our viewers were curious about the deal, which has been cut in between India and China to get Chinese silence against its all weather friend Pakistan.
Interestingly, After this meeting, China has got Vice President ship of Financial Action Task force from July 2018. Since, Vice president only becomes next president. China will hold the post of president of this prestigious organization from July 2019 to July 2020.
Significantly, Indian external affairs ministry has officially congratulated China on this.
While being president of this organization, China will not take sides of Pakistan, because it would want to establish its strong credentials for impartially heading the financial Action Task force.
If you see, China has sacrificed its all weather friendship with Pakistan, just to become head of this organization.
This once again confirms, China has been using Pakistan for its own benefits, and it wont sacrifice its interests, to further the interests of Pakistan.
There is fear that now Pakistan will be more dependent on China after being placed on grey list, or black list. While this is quite possible.
However, it may also happen, The way China has voted against Pakistan, may open eyes of Pakistan as well.
Till few days ago, Pakistan was fully confident, that in the boat of China and Russia, it will be able to sail through the American storm.
Now Pakistan should realize, its hope was baseless. Russia and China will support Pakistan, as long as it doesn't harm their interests.
As we have argued in our other videos as well, China and Russia can be friend of Pakistan, but they can never help and support Pakistan, the way America has been helping Pakistan for last 70 years.
Its equally possible now that Pakistan's attitude towards America may also change now. Which option Pakistan chooses now, only Future will tell.
However, After the loss of face at last meeting of financial Action task force, one thing is fore sure, Foreign minister of Pakistan knows very well the cost of a tweet.
