Hello Friends, welcome to Real Quick Info channel. Lets discuss about today's topic.
Recently, you might have come across a news article mentioning a fake encounter in Pakistan killing Four people on 13 January 2018. Among them was Pakistani model Naqeebullah Mehsud.
Against the killing of Mehsud, his fellow Pashtun tribesman began historic non violent protest.
In response to very intense protest spread across Pakistan, specially in Federally Administered Tribal Areas, or FATA, Prime minister of Pakistan assured justice, and protest ended on 10 February 2018.
However, please consider two important demands of these protestors.
First was - Removal of landmines from Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
Second was - End to the practice of imposing curfews after any untoward incident.
Please note, Pashtuns live on both sides of controversial Durand line, and they have never accepted this arbitrary boundary in between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
When Pashtuns were protesting against Pakistan governments, Thankfully Government in Afghanistan openly supported them.
However, few people in India care about Baluchistan, and even fewer know about our historical relationship with Pashtuns.
Bharat Ratna Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, or Frontier Gandhi was major Pashtun champion of non-violent struggle during Indian independence movement.
firmly believing in the idea of United India, He was clearly against the division of India on the religious grounds.
However we have not only forgotten Frontier Gandhi, but also we forgot relationship with Pashtuns also.
You may well understand, the extra judicial killing of four Pashtuns was just the last straw, that has broken the camels back.
Tribes living in FATA have paid the maximum price for the Pakistan sponsored terrorism.
Hence, they came out in large number to vent their anger against the establishment.
We all understand, Indian foreign ministry officials are busy enough, but we seem to have clearly lost a golden opportunity to demonstrate our historic association with Pashtuns.
We could have morally supported their nonviolent struggle. Even a tweet from Ministry of foreign affairs would have served the purpose.
Please be aware for the establishment of peace in the region, Pashtuns play very important role. If moderate voices among them speak against fundamentalism and terrorism, they should be supported and echoed.
At the time of partition, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan told Mahatma Gandhi that, you have thrown us to the wolves.
By the sudden events, Modi government has got an opportunity to correct the historic blunder.
We hope, Indian government will find some time to respond and morally support the nonviolent struggle of Pakistani tribes.
