आप जानते हैं, जॉर्डन के राजा अब्दुल्ला की भारत यात्रा के दौरान, दोनों देशों के बीच 12 सहमति पत्रों पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए. इस प्रकार दोनों देशों के बीच आपसी संबंध एक नए स्तर पर पहुंच चुके हैं. इतिहास में पहली बार,  रक्षा क्षेत्र में एक दूसरे का सहयोग करने के लिए यह दोनों देश सहमति पर भी पहुंचे हैं. लेकिन यहां पर ध्यान देने वाली महत्वपूर्ण बात है, यह सहमति रक्षा क्षेत्र में सहयोग करने के लिए एक व्यापक व्यवस्था बनाने के ऊपर प्राप्त की गई है. इसके द्वारा ऐसे क्षेत्रों की पहचान की जाएगी, जिनमें भारत और जॉर्डन भविष्य में एक दूसरे की मदद कर सकते हैं. अगर आप देखें, तो दोनों देशों के रक्षा क्षेत्र में विचार एक दूसरे से मिलते हैं, यह सहमति इसका प्रमाण हैं. दोनों देशों ने अब रक्षा क्षेत्र में सहयोग की दिशा में आगे बढ़ने के लिए औपचारिक सहमति प्राप्त कर ली है. हालांकि इसे एक अच्छी शुरुआत तो माना जा सकता है, लेकिन हमें इसके ऊपर भविष्य में अभी बहुत अधिक कार्य करने की आवश्यकता है. सबसे बड़ी समस्या यही पर है, देखा जाए तो, पिछले 70 वर्षों में पश्चिमी एशिया के इस महत्वपूर्ण मित्र को हमने उपेक्षित ही किया है. भविष्य में भी हमें इस दोस्ती में गर्मजोशी बनाए रखना है. रक्षा क्षेत्र में सहयोग के अलावा, हम एक और सहमति को बहुत रोचक मानते हैं . इसके अनुसार जॉर्डन भारत को लंबे समय के लिए rock phosphate और अन्य महत्वपूर्ण fertilizer उपलब्ध कराएगा. इसके अलावा दोनों देश मिलकर Phosphoric acid के बड़े पैमाने पर उत्पादन के लिए जॉर्डन में एक फैक्ट्री लगाएंगे. जिसके द्वारा किये गए पुरे वार्षिक उत्पादन को भारत खरीदेगा. आप जानते होंगे, Phosphoric acid का प्रयोग Diammonium phosphate के उत्पादन में किया जाता है. जो कि दुनिया में सबसे अधिक प्रयोग किया जाने वाला phosphorus fertilizer है. हम सभी जानते हैं, अगले 5 वर्षों में वर्तमान सरकार का पूरा ध्यान किसानों की आय दोगुना करने पर है. जहां सिंचाई के प्रोजेक्ट पर बहुत तेजी से बड़े पैमाने पर काम चल रहा है. साथ ही खेती के लिए अत्यधिक महत्वपूर्ण fertilizers और रसायनों की लंबे समय के लिए निश्चित प्राप्ति निर्धारित करना, भारत सरकार के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है. यह एक ऐसा क्षेत्र है, जिसमें भारत के उज्जवल भविष्य के निर्माण में जॉर्डन महत्वपूर्ण सहयोग कर सकता है. दोनों देशों के बीच हस्ताक्षर किए गए सभी सहमति पत्रों को देखते हुए, यह विश्वास के साथ कहा जा सकता है, कि जॉर्डन के राजा की भारत यात्रा एक सफल यात्रा रही हैं. फिर भी यह केवल शुरुआत मात्र है, हम बहुत लंबा आगे जा सकते हैं, और हमें जाना भी चाहिए. आपके विचार से, जॉर्डन के राजा की भारत यात्रा को आप कैसा मानते हैं?

You know, During Indian visit of Jordan King Abdullah, Both sides have signed 12 memorandums of understanding, thus elevating the bilateral friendship to the whole new level.



For the very first time, Both countries have reached common understanding on defense cooperation.



What is very important to highlight is, this framework agreement is broad in scope, and mainly focuses on identifying the specific areas of cooperation in the future.



If you see, this agreement confirms, Taking advantage of synergistic views, both nations have formally identified the need to collaborate in the area of defense.



However, it can be regarded as good beginning only. We need to build on top of it in future. That's where the problem is, in the last 70 years we have neglected such an important friendly country in West Asia. We Indians need to careful to maintain warmth in this relationship.



Rather than, defense agreement, what we find more interesting is, Indian agreement with Jordan for long term supply of rock phosphate and fertilizers to India.



In addition, Both countries will jointly set up large scale production facility in Jordan for Phosphoric acid, India is providing for 100 percent off take from this facility.





You may know, Phosphoric acid is used to produce Di ammonium phosphate, which is most widely used phosphorus fertilizer in the world.



We all know, The focus of current government is to double the farmers income in next 5 years. Massive work on irrigation projects is already going on. But We also need long term supply assurance for critically important fertilizers. That's where Jordan has the key role to play in our bright future.



Keeping in view all bilateral agreements, with certain degree of confidence, we can regard this visit a remarkably successful one.



However, once again, this is just a beginning, we can go far, and we must.
