Lets discuss about today's topic.

You know, In comparison to 273 Chinese transgressions in the year 2016,  There was significant rise in the year 2017, with total 426 Chinese transgressions in Indian side.



Needless to say, the same year, Doklam standoff also took place.



With Chinese incursion increasing, the bilateral relations have taken the major hit due to negative media coverage.





You may recall, last year, Indian army chief remarked, that counter Indian transgressions also take place into Chinese side.



However, such incidents don't get any media coverage and our attention.



As per Indian army chief, the difference of perception about Line of Actual control should be blamed for regular counter intrusions along the line of actual control.



We all are very much aware of the fact, that with China we share the longest disputed border in the world.





Despite more than 20 meetings in between Special Representative of India and China, we are no where close to resolving a number of boundary disputes.



As per current working mechanism, whenever a border incursion is noticed by either side, a flag meeting is arranged to share each others perception about the boundary.



Though such flag meetings have ensured, that no shot is fired on the line of actual control, yet the rise in incursion attempts and associated negative media coverage continue to harm the bilateral relationship.



In this background, As per news report published by Hindustan Times News paper, After the strategic talk in between Indian Prime Minister and Chinese President, Indian National Security Advisor will meet with Army chief for operational talks to figure out the measures, so that line of actual control can be made incursion free.



One of the ideas on the table is, Joint Patrol by both India and China in disputed or sensitive areas, where there is no clearly demarcated border.



As per this idea, if Chinese army needs to conduct patrol as per their perception, they can do that with small number of Indian army men escorting them in the Indian side of disputed border.



Same rule will apply, when Indian army needs to conduct patrol in Chinese side, Small number of Chinese soldier will escort them.



With this joint patrol idea, both armies will continue to assert their claims on the disputed areas with better communication and border management in between powerful armies of both nations.



Needless to say, such joint action will build trust to some extent. having said that, this is not a permanent solution.



Sooner or later, we need to have clearly demarcated border with China,  till then Ideas like Joint patrol can build the confidence and create the atmosphere for permanent resolution.

However, We must say, such ideas will work as long as there is no difference in Chinese words and actions.

As far as we think, this better mechanism can be tried. at the same time, we must continue to maintain highest possible vigilance around the line of actual control.



After all, our Chinese friends have taught us not  believe in their words, but in their actions.
