हमारे कई दर्शकों का यह मानना है, कि जब भारत ने अमेरिका इसराइल और अन्य देशों से हथियार चालू कर दिए, तब प्रतिक्रिया स्वरुप रूस पाकिस्तान के और करीब जाने लगा और उसे हथियार बेचने लगा.
साधारण से शब्दों में, रूस और पाकिस्तान की दोस्ती भारत और अमेरिका की दोस्ती का जवाब है.
लेकिन अगर आप ऐतिहासिक तथ्यों की ओर थोड़ा सा ध्यान दें, अफगानिस्तान से अपने सैनिकों को वापस बुलाने के बाद, रूस ने पाकिस्तान के साथ संबंधों को सामान्य बनाने की कोशिश चालू कर दी थी.
वर्ष 1989 में, पाकिस्तान में रूस के राजदूत ने पाकिस्तान में व्यापारिक परमाणु संयंत्र लगाने का प्रस्ताव तैयार किया था.
लेकिन अमेरिकी दबाव के कारण, इस प्रस्ताव को ठंडे बस्ते में डाल दिया गया.
यह एक ऐतिहासिक सत्य सिद्ध करता है, कि बहुत बड़े वैश्विक राजनीतिक कारण रूस और पाकिस्तान की द्विपक्षीय मित्रता को नियंत्रण में रखते हैं.

और पाकिस्तान ने भी भविष्य में ऐसे 20 ऍम आई 35 लड़ाकू हेलीकॉप्टर खरीदने के प्रति अपना रुझान दर्शा दिया है.
हम तो यही बात कहना चाहते हैं, कि रूस और पाकिस्तान की दोस्ती में गर्मजोशी आने के पीछे भारत के अन्य देशों के साथ रक्षा सौदे कभी नहीं थे.
यद्यपि हम रूस का व्यवहार नहीं बदल सकते हैं, लेकिन कम से कम हमें रूस के ऐसे व्यवहार का दोश अपने ऊपर नहीं लेना चाहिए.
नियंत्रण सीमा पर पाकिस्तान के द्वारा किए जाने वाले युद्ध विराम के उल्लंघन में नियमित रूप से तेजी से बढ़ावा हो रहा है.
कहने की जरूरत नहीं है, कि पाकिस्तान ने भारत विरोधी आतंकवाद को प्रायोजित करना बंद कर दिया है, इसका कोई भी लक्षण हमें दिखाई नहीं दे रहा है.
इस पृष्ठभूमि में, भारत और रूस के राजनयिक संबंधों के 70 साल पूरा होने के अवसर पर, भारत में रूस के राजदूत ने पाकिस्तान की प्रशंसा करते हुए उसे आतंकवाद के खिलाफ प्रभावपूर्ण तरीके से कार्य करने का सर्टिफिकेट जारी कर दिया है.
उनके अनुसार, पाकिस्तान ने आतंकवाद को आर्थिक मदद के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्यवाही की है.
हमें यह समझ नहीं आ रहा है, रूस के राजदूत के साथ किस आतंकवाद के बारे में बात कर रहे हैं.
ना तो अफगानिस्तान और ना ही भारत उनके इस वक्तव्य के पक्ष में प्रमाण दे सकता है.
इसलिए इस आधारहीन वक्तव्य को दरकिनार करते हुए, हम सभी को स्वीकार करना चाहिए, कि भारत और रूस के संबंधों की पृष्ठभूमि पूरी तरह से बदल चुकी है.
जितनी जल्दी हमें इस बात का आभास होगा, हमारे लिए उतना ही अच्छा होगा.
अभी तो रूस की प्राथमिकता किसी भी तरह से अफगानिस्तान में निराश अमेरिका को पूरी तरह से हराना है.
दुर्भाग्यवश, पाकिस्तान के साथ मिलकर काम करके, रूस ने यह निश्चित कर दिया है, कि आने वाले भविष्य में अफगानिस्तान में शांति नहीं लौटेगी.
अगर हम भविष्य में अपने सारे हथियार रूस से खरीदें, तो भी रूस पाकिस्तान को गले लगाए रखेगा.
जैसा कि कहा जाता है, ना तो स्थाई दोस्त होते हैं, और ना ही स्थाई दुश्मन होते हैं, स्थाई तो केवल निजी हित होते हैं.
अभी तो रूस अफगानिस्तान में अपने निजी हितों की सेवा कर रहा है, और हमें रूस के ऐसे व्यवहार का दोष अपने ऊपर नहीं लेना चाहिए.

In simpler words, Russia Pakistan friendship is in reaction to India America friendship.
However, if you look a little bit on historical facts, Just after withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, Russia started to normalize relationship with Pakistan.
In fact, In 1989, Soviet ambassador to Pakistan offered to install a commercial nuclear power plant in Pakistan.
And it was American pressure which has sent this proposal to cold storage.
This evidence confirms that Bigger Geopolitical reasons govern the bilateral relationship in between Russia and Pakistan.
Being in defensive mode, we always take blame for deterioration in India Russia ties on ourselves.
Let’s not forget, Even now, 68% of Indian defense equipment comes from Russia.
It’s interesting to note, As we are talking now, Russia has started delivery of four M I 35 flying tanks to Pakistan at the cost of 153 Million Dollar.
And Pakistan has expressed interest to buy up to 20 new M I 35 attack helicopters in future.
The point we are trying to make is, The Indian defense deals with other countries have never been responsible for the warmth in Russia Pakistan relationship.
Though we cannot change the behavior of Russia, yet we must stop taking blame for it.
Along the Line of Control, There has been consistent rise in cease fire violation from Pakistan side.
Needless to say, there has been no sigh to suggest that Pakistan has stopped sponsorship to terrorism directed against India.
In this background, Marking 70 years of diplomatic relationship in between India and Russia, Russian ambassador to India awarded certificate to Pakistan by saying that Pakistan's anti terrorism credentials have improved.
And Pakistan has taken serious measures to stop terror financing.
We are not able to figure out which terrorism Russian Ambassador is talking about.
Neither Afghanistan Nor India can confirm such baseless statements.
Disregarding such statements, We realize the landscape for India Russia relationship has undergone a big change.
the sooner we Indians realize this, the better it is.
Right now, Russian priority is to get bleeding America conclusively defeated in Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, By joining forces with Pakistan, Russia has ensured that Peace never returns in Afghanistan in foreseeable future.
Even if we buy all defense equipment from Russia in future, Russia will continue to embrace Pakistan.
As its said, There are no permanent friends or permanent enemies, just permanent interests.
Russia is looking after its own interests in Afghanistan, and we must stop taking blame for it.
