If you look at US India trade relation, In last two years, there was decline of 5.9 percent in the American trade deficit.
on the contrary, In case of US China trade relation, for the same duration, there was increase of 8 percent in the American trade deficit.
You know, India has been one of the few countries, with which US trade deficit has decreased in the last one year.
This data is more than enough to confirm Indian positive responsiveness towards key American trade concerns.
Unlike China, we don’t follow make your neighbor beggar policy, and We want sustainable and profitable American friendship at the same time.
In this background, During the Russian visit of Indian defense minister, India and Russia have failed to seal The deal for S 400 Triumph Missile system.
While both sides have fully agreed on technical parameters of the contract, differences over the price continue to persist.
Hence, Few more round of negotiations will go on. the good thing is both sides are engaged. and there is hope of final deal being signed in October, when Prime Minister Modi and President Putin will meet in new Delhi.
Given both India and Russia are in advanced stage of negotiations, Sooner than later this deal will be closed.
That’s where Trump administration will have to choose between Punishing India for violating Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, or granting an exemption to avoid negative effect on the bilateral relationship.
India has been regarded as Major defense partner of America, and holds prime role in American Indo Pacific strategy against aggressive China.
Such strategic relationship should not be put at stake due to single military transaction in between Russia and India.
We deserve exemption from American sanctions, and same has been clearly communicated to American authorities during visit of high level Indian officials.
Both parties in America value relationship with India important, that’s why US congress should either grant sanctions waiver for India, or change the act, which punishes both American friends and enemy equally.
Disregarding Russian anger, In the last 15 years, American defense equipment sale to India has gone from zero to high 15 Billion dollar today.
Needless to say, America needs India as much as India needs America.
Hopefully, better sense will prevail, and Pragmatic Americans will find a way to avoid imposition of sanctions on India due to S400 deal.
Let’s be clear, with, or without American sanctions, India will buy S400 systems. now ball is in American court.
