You may know, Fire and forget Nag missile uses Infrared  Heat seeker to Follow and hit the target.



In the year 2011, there was plan to induct 450 Nag Missiles along with 13  Nag Missile Carriers.

However, this missile system failed in the user validation trials.



The problem was, This version of Nag missile was using imported European Heat seekers, which were not able to distinguish the target in extreme temperature of desert at great distance.



In simple words, the temperature difference in between Target and Desert sand was almost negligible in Summer reason, therefore missile was not able to identify and hit the target.



However, Recent tests have confirmed, that Nag missile empowered with indigenous seeker can successfully target enemy tank even in the worst desert conditions during summer with high degree of accuracy.



Perhaps, this new made in India seeker was the prime reason, why India cancelled Israeli Spike missile deal.



As per news report published in India Today, Ministry of defense is going to consider the acquisition of 300 Nag Missiles and 25  Nag Missile Carriers for Indian Army.



While this proposal is significant, we must say, Indian army should not accept this Nag version, if it doesn't meet their stringent criteria.



Having said that, Because of their love for foreign made weapons, they should not find excuse to reject this made in India weapons.



Indian army has plan to test these missile in the field, because the demand is of around 3000 Missiles systems.



We wish, this Nag missile with indigenous seekers come up to the expectations of Indian army, and it will end up saving billions of dollars Indian foreign exchange.



After all, If we can meet the need at home, why to import from abroad.
