We all know, Pakistan has this habit of comparing itself with India, and trying to show as if Pakistan is better.



Lets look at numbers from IMF, because numbers don't lie.



In last 70 Years, India has entered in to seven arrangements with international monitory fund with last one in the year 1991.

As of now, we have 19 Million Dollar IMF loan to repay.









However in the same duration, Pakistan has got the privilege of entering in to 21 arrangements with international monitory fund with last one in the year 2013. As of now, Pakistan has 4 Billion Dollar IMF loan to repay. 



Now, Pakistan is getting ready for 22nd arrangement with International monitory fund.



More importantly, In 1991, India had to pledge 67 tons of Indian gold as collateral security to get loan from IMF.



We should be proud to say, India has not opted for any other bail out from IMF after wards, Instead India bought 200 tons of gold from same International Monitory fund in the year 2009.



In case of Pakistan, After 1988 it has taken 12 bailouts from IMF, and the loan amount has gone up from 272 Million Dollars to 4 Billion Dollars.



Now, Pakistan is expecting biggest in its history 10 to 15 Billion Dollar IMF loan .



More significantly, out of all 21 IMF arrangements, Pakistan has failed to complete majority of programs specified by IMF.



First, we need to understand, IMF is lender of last resort for its all member countries facing bankruptcy. When country is about to face such severe economic crisis and no other lending agency is ready to provide any sort of assistance, it has to knock the doors of IMF.





Basically, the idea of IMF is to contain the economic crisis in the concerned country and prevent it from negatively impacting global economy. 



However, IMF provides loans under an arrangement under which a country taking loan has to fulfill certain terms and conditions to get each installment.



These conditions are basically meant to stabilize the country, and put it on a path so that it doesn't face any economic crisis in future.



Conditions include, reduction in government spending, increase interest rates and devalue local currency etc.



Majority of times, IMF arrangement gets success in resolving economic crisis of member countries.



That's why the question is, Why Pakistan has been consistently standing with begging bowl on the gates of IMF?



You tell, a Patient is suffering from Tuberculosis and he goes to a doctor, who prescribe him a course for six months including medicines, precautions and care.



But as soon as Patient gets little bit of relief, he stops taking medicines and start living recklessly as he used to before.  Now, you tell, will he be able to recover from Tuberculosis.



After few months, he will again stand in queue out side same doctor's clinic.



Same is the case of Pakistan,  Each time Pakistan faces economic crisis, it fulfills initial conditions of IMF program to get first few loan installments.



As soon as Pakistan comes under IMF umbrella, other lending institutions feel comfortable to provide money to Pakistan.



With in few months, Pakistan obviously starts recovering  and stops fulfilling the conditions of IMF program. As a result IMF also stops providing the loan under the program.



Amusingly, Pakistan publicly abuses IMF, each time a program ends prematurely.



Lets be clear, IMF has nothing to lose here, whatever money it has loaned, Pakistan has to repay it. More Importantly, IMF has been able to containing the economic crisis of Pakistan, which is the main purpose of IMF existence.



Even after getting abused, IMF is happy because It has prevented negative impact on global economy due to economic crisis of Pakistan. Interestingly Pakistan is also happy, because it has managed to survive through an economic crisis.



And this is the cycle which has been repeated 21 times in last 70 years.



Last time after completing IMF program, Pakistan thought, that China Pakistan Economic Corridor project will help it in getting rid of begging bowl.



But, same Cpec project is very much responsible for forcing Pakistan to beg just 2 years after 21st IMF bailout.



Evidently Pakistan has realized that selling few buffaloes and cars will not prevent it from falling at the feet of IMF again.



Now, As IMF has specified, Pakistan is getting ready to take tough steps like increasing interest rates, cost of gas price and power tariffs, reducing value of currency and government spending. 



With the backing of Army, Imran Khan has promised to establish welfare state in Pakistan and provide 10 million jobs.



With IMF program, As it happened in the Past, the popularity of Imran Khan government is going to nosedive for sure.



Once again Army Generals in Rawalpindi would laugh for finding another scapegoat in last general election.



Regardless Pakistan completes or abandons this 22nd IMF bail out, Lets be clear, very soon Pakistan will again be standing at the gates of IMF for 23rd IMF bail out.



It will keep happening as long as Pakistan will consider itself as equal to India, and you know, how Pakistan wants to be equal to India, not by growing itself, but by doing everything possible to make India decline.



In simple words, in order to show its line longer, Pakistan has been trying hard to erase Indian longer line.



Pakistan doesn't care whether money is coming from America, IMF, China or Saudi Arabia. its surviving only to fight a 1000 years war with India. We Indians would be very foolish if we laugh at Pakistan for seeking IMF loans again and again. Its Pakistan's long term strategy to survive only to kill India.



Pakistan has simple philosophy, No one can defeat you, as long as you don't surrender. 



Those Indians, who believe that India and Pakistan can be friend in future, simply don't understand why Pakistan exists at the first place.



Those who don't learn from History, will simply become its victim in the future. Unlike Pakistani experts sitting in the studios of Indian channels, we don't have any illusion, that it is last IMF bail out, and India should talk to have friendly relationship with Pakistan.
