Hello Friends, welcome to Real Quick Info channel. Lets discuss our Real Quick Analysis.
Friends, you might remember, On YouTube, few days ago, one of the greatest voices of Independent Media, has confidently predicted that statue of Unity will never become successful tourist destination in future.
While we dont know about the future, the reports have started coming in about 27 Thousand tourist visiting statue of Unity on this Saturday only.
Such was the crowd inflow, that roads leading to statue of Unity was jammed for 10 Kilometer long distance.
Before completing first 10 days after its inauguration, statue of unity has already earned more than 50 Lakh Rupees.
Though these early trends are encouraging, we will have to wait for at least one year to determine average number of tourist visiting Statue of Unity daily.
Understandably, after the inauguration, people are filled with excitement, so large number of tourists are coming in to view statue of unity.
But here we discuss another point, while arriving at conclusion that statue of unity is waste of public money. In this video, interesting analysis was presented, that it would take 85 years for government to earn the money spent on statue of Unity.
the calculation is based on this simple formula.
Now consider this, the tourists coming here, will do following things as well.
- They will arrive via Car, bus, train, air plane
- They will stay in hotels
- They will eat food
- They will buy goods in the market
- Before or after vising Statue of Unity, they will visit other places as well.
In doing all these activities, tourists will be spending money. due to these transaction, government will earn GST and local population will get jobs as well.
Now the question is, Should these not be included in the total money and benefits earned due to Statue of unity?
if you consider these as revenue source, do you still think 85 years will be required for government to earn back 3000 crores spent on Statue of unity?
More significantly, one the one hand, these analysts say, why government has spent huge 3000 crore on this statue. On the another hand they call this statue Made in China.
Now the basic question is, if everything related to this statue of Unity has been made in India, would the cost have not escalated from 3000 crores.
If 100% made in India statue of unity had costed more money. Would these experts have appreciated Modi government then?
Anyways, Statue of unity has not been built from profit making perspective. Still if someone is trying to determine the return on investment for Statue of unity, and he is truly unbiased analyst, he must consider all intangible factors along with tangible ones.
Anyways, Statue of Unity will take care of itself.
More importantly, Former RBI governor asked very important question, if India can complete construction of Statue of Unity as per the time line, why not we complete other projects of national importance on time.
This point is well taken. in fact statue of unity must give us inspiration in this regard.
However, his audience took statue of unity being constructed on time as a joke and burst into laughter.
Its understandable, you laugh at something, which doesn't deserve your serious consideration.
In the same lecture, Former RBI governor has said that Demonetization and GST were two primary reasons for decline in Indian growth rate.
While we agree, to some extent these two steps might have contributed to slow Indian growth in the year 2016 and 2017.
But Former RBI Governor has still not responded to the view point expressed by current Vice Chairman of Neeti yog in September this year.
Common sense says that Economic growth is related to credit growth in any economy.
Generally, The more bank gives loans, the more faster economy grows.
The point is, during these quarters when Indian economy was slowing, the rate at which bank gives loans to private sector has also been slowing down.
In fact, banks stopped providing loans and reduced the credit availability to Indian private companies.
Now the question is, has demonetization or GST forced banks to stop giving loans to private sector?
The inconvenient answer to this question is No. It was the problem of Non performing assets. Which was rightly identified by Modi government. And RBI started the clean up exercise for banking balance sheets.
Unlike Former RBI Governor, we don't want to start pointing fingers. But the basic point is simple, if GST and demonetization can be blamed for slow Indian economy, Should the independent and objective thinker like Rajan not have blamed his policies, which have scared the banks to the extent, that they stopped lending.
In fact, during his tenure, if you may recall, whole industry was requesting for lower interest rate, rather than reducing them, RBI under him kept increasing interest rate.
Respecting the independence of RBI, its their right to determine interest rates. But higher interest rate also contributes to slower economy.
But When you want to take revenge for not being granted second term, you will not leave any opportunity to blame the government at opportune moment.
If you allow us to say, Modi government didn't commit mistake in demonetization and GST, but by not asking Governor Rajan to leave RBI, as soon as this government came into power.
In fact, do you want to become darling of Indian Media?
Do you want to be considered as unbiased independent expert and thinker?
You only have to do one thing, Hate PM Modi and find faults in whatever he does.
Hate Modi and make others hate Modi, you will be called expert and truth seeker.
until few months back, Indian media used to criticize current RBI governor, even for not speaking much to Media. Now you see, as soon as disagreement surfaced among RBI and central government. Governor Patel has become protector of independence of RBI.
As we have discussed, statue of unity, GST and demonetization are just set of excuses for these two experts.
As per your analysis, will statue of unity become a failed tourist destination of India?
