You may recall, early this year when America announced to come out of Iran Nuclear Deal in November This year.



Rather than being sorry for Islamic Republic of Iran, Our friends in Islamic Republic of Pakistan were very happy at that time. They were dreaming, American withdrawal from Iran Nuclear deal would abort Indian plans for Cha bahar port.



However, as you may recall, Indian Cha bahar Port got exemption from American Sanctions on Iran in last month.



Now the day has come when India Ports Global Limited has officially taken over control and operations at Cha bahar port for a period of 18 months. You know, this period can be extended on mutually acceptable conditions.



Given the dark clouds of uncertainty have vanished from the future of Cha bahar port, Iran Afghanistan and India will jointly hold an event on 26th February to promote and popularize the potential of Cha bahar port.



Interestingly, three sides have decided to conduct study to figure out how Cha bahar port route can be made more commercially attractive by decreasing the logistic costs and by smooth operation of agreement in between them.



Hopefully, All three sides will remain committed to the future of Cha bahar port by completing all identified action items on the time.



Now that Cha bahar port has slowly but steadily come into operation,  its matter of satisfaction for us.



However, you all know, There are unconfirmed reports that Trump administration is planning to pull out half of the troops deployed in Afghanistan.



Rather interestingly, in recently concluded talks in UAE, Taliban refused to talk to Afghan government.



If eventual complete american troops withdrawal happens, the future of Afghan government  will become uncertain, which is obviously most important party for Cha bahar port.



For Taliban and Pakistan, Afghan government is a client regime, which has control only on Kabul.



Hence we need to discuss about the future of Cha bahar port after the american troops withdrawal from Afghanistan.



After the news of Planned American troops withdrawal came out, we became very curious in Ambassador Khalilzad, who has been appointed as special envoy to Afghanistan by America in September this year.



Please note, This Afghanistan born man is now responsible for the Afghanistan Reconciliation.



Interestingly, 30 years ago, this man has managed the first ever meetings in between Afghan Mujaheddin and American president Ronald Reagan.



Yes, Young Ambassador Khalilzad was instrumental in America using Taliban to make Soviet run away from Afghanistan.



After the american invasion on Afghanistan in the year 2001, he served as American ambassador to Afghanistan in between year 2003 and 2005.



Therefore we tend to think, that President Trump has appointed a person to find a cure for Afghanistan disease, who was in fact responsible for causing Afghanistan disease to America.



However, he is very sharp man, he knows how America got caught into Afghanistan checkmate, and he is even more clear about double game played by Pakistan against America in Afghanistan war.



Perhaps that's why we need not be surprised to note, that just after concluding talks with Taliban in UAE, he decided to meet Pakistan Army chief.



It appears that he is trying to get support from Pakistan Army and I S I, so that America can honorably exit from Afghanistan.

We wish good luck to Ambassador Khalilzad, if he starts believing in the truth of Pakistani generals, who are pathological liars.

but the question remains, if America runs away from Afghanistan, what will happen to Afghan government, will it be able to withstand the Pakistan backed Taliban, which already controls 60% of Afghanistan territory.



That's where is a good news, after announcing complete withdrawal of American troops from Syria, now Trump administration has decided to slowly pull out troops from there.



If america adopts similar condition based slow troops withdrawal from Afghanistan,  it would be better approach.



Sudden withdrawal from Afghanistan will only result into the eventual downfall of Afghanistan government.



In that worst case scenario, Indian Chabahar port will again become worthless.

Therefore, Form long term point of view, we should seriously think, when Russia can engage with Taliban, Should India not engage with it?



With Cha bahar port access, can India not grant more bargaining power to Taliban against Pakistan?



in fact, as per government of Afghanistan, trade and transit volume in between Afghanistan and Pakistan has decreased by 20%  this year.




The point we are trying to make is rather simple, Will future government of Afghanistan not like the quality goods at cheaper price from India via cha bahar port?



despite american partial troops withdrawal, its unlikely that America will let current Afghanistan administration fall like house of cards. Therefore we should remain supportive of current democratic set up in Afghanistan.



However as we all know the reality of the day, While Pakistan is looking for IMF Bailout, America is looking for Afghanistan  bailout.



Pulling troops from Syria and Afghanistan is major election promise for President Trump, before seeking re-election in the year 2020, he will certainly try his best to keep his main election promise.





Therefore we should be ready to engage with Afghanistan even when Taliban becomes part of Government in Afghanistan after election scheduled in next year.



India offering better deal to that Afghanistan government in future, may increase cost on Pakistan to manage Taliban for its own benefit.



The basic question is, When India can become friend of most oppressive regime on earth Saudi Arabia and Iran, Should India not look at Taliban in Afghanistan from different perspective?



Please remember, There are no permanent friends or permanent enemies. there are only permanent interests.


If today Russia is using Taliban against America, Should India not try to use Taliban against Pakistan?
