If you follow American politics and election, you would quickly realize that China and Russia are two big issues.


As you all understand, China is our principal enemy. Pakistan is to waste our time so that we never focus on the root cause of our all problems in Geo politics.

Perhaps, India is only country on the planet earth, where election fever is running very high without China featuring in the campaign.







Anyways, India is not the only country, which is going for election right now.



On 17th April, General elections will be conducted in Indonesia.



For presidential election, direct contest is in between current President Jokowi, who is considered to be Pro China and Prabowo, who is considered as anti China.



Current President Jokowi, assumed office in 2014. Under his nose, Indonesian trade deficit with China has gone up by 40%.



Right now, with massive 18 Billion Dollar trade deficit, China is the largest trading partner of Indonesia.



Not very long ago, Japan used to be largest trading partner of Indonesia.



Though Chinese encroachment of Entire South China sea is matter of concern for Indonesian people, yet the flood of cheap and illegal goods from China is considered major threat to Indonesian economy.



Perhaps that's why Prabowo has promised to get fair trade deal with China to ensure trade with China is beneficial to Indonesian economy as well.



When Jokowi administration came to power, It offered project worth 91 Billion Dollar to China.


Beside trade deficit, another major important issue in this election is about Chinese funding in 6 Billion Dollar Jakarta–Bandung  high speed railway line.



For this project, China was in direct competition with Japan.



To the disappointment of Japan, China was awarded the project in the year 2015.



With in three years, Indonesian people have realized that China had made false promise to win the bid against worthy Rival Japan.



As it happens in any other belt and road project, there is issue of transparency in How China and Indonesia are collaborating in infrastructure projects. No body knows, whats going on actually in between two governments besides hearing big announcement of Chinese money flowing in Indonesia.



As its said, liars make the best promises. anyways, Current president is reluctant to criticize China. but his main competitor in the election, Prabowo has promised to review 6 Billion Dollar high speed rail project, if he wins the election.





China has this hobby of building infrastructural white elephants, now people and experts of Indonesia are getting worried if China had been building another white elephant in the form of 150 Kilometer long Jakarta Bandung high speed railway line.



Though Current president is leading in the campaign, we can not totally deny the possibility of huge surprise, when the votes are counted.



If Pro China Jokowi loses the election, it will be a big jolt to China, which is right now getting ready to welcome 100 countries for Belt and road forum in the mid of this month.



Lets see, After Malaysia and Maldives, Will Indonesia be third democratic country to uproot pro China governments?



However, its really good that China is an important issue in the Indonesian election. From this perspective, Indonesian election campaign is better than Indian election campaign.



It would be interesting to see, how election result of Indonesia come for China.
