You all know, As per the request of Pakistani Prime Minister, whole Pakistan was expected to conduct special prayer so that Pakistan hits oil and gas jackpot soon.



Since January this year, offshore drilling has been going on in Kakra 1 block. Now the news report has come about the completion of drilling process.



Its certainly a remarkable achievement to complete the drilling activity before sea turns rough due to Monsoon.



As per multiple reports published in Pakistani media, now testing process will be completed in next 48 to 72 Hours.



Drill stem test will help Pakistan to determine if the well has oil and gas reserves. With in next one week, Pakistan will be able to know the size of oil and gas jackpot.



As per initial plan, drilling was supposed to end in the month of March, but you see, after the delay of 2 months, drilling is getting completed by the mid of May.



Its understandable that actual time lines may miss the estimated time lines.



Therefore the point is, though Pakistani media is creating impression that next 48 hours are very crucial after offshore drilling is completed.



Yet it may take time longer than one week for Exxon mobil to complete the testing process to reach  any conclusion.



Even after oil discovery is made, it would be interesting to see if its commercially profitable to harness oil and gas from this well.



Size of reserves also matters,  it would not make sense for Pakistan to build expensive necessary infrastructure to harvest small oil and gas reserve.



You know, There are many questions and few answers. 



But now we all know, that drilling process has been stopped and Pakistan has started wait for the result of testing process.



Given past track record of Pakistan. please don't get surprised if news comes in next 10 days about Pakistan hitting oil and gas jackpot.



Since Pakistan has to face so many bad news in the recent times, its quite possible that a fake news may be manufactured so that Pakistani public's ego could be temporarily satisfied.



Moreover, recently the price of petroleum products has been increased significantly, its quite possible that in order to create false feel good factor, a fake news is spread about Pakistan hitting oil and gas reserve.





As you understand, rather than relying on the news reports published in Pakistani media quoting Pakistani officials and leaders, it would be better for us to wait for official statements from Exxon mobil itself.



We need not feel negative here, its quite possible that Pakistan indeed hits oil and gas jackpot in the recently concluded offshore oil drilling. for now, lets wait for some more time.
